Public, please have this inactive member contact headquarters immediately.  Until then, we advise you that he is not an active member.  We ethically police ourselves and we really need to talk to this surveyor.  Thanks.

Who Should Be in Charge of Marine Surveyors?

April 7th, 2009

The catch word of politics today is if you don’t like government interference we call it “socialization.”  So, this leads me to wonder why we are accepting de facto regulation by civilian societies who really, including us, have no, nor should have any, control in a right to work profession of what societies marine surveyors should belong to.  This especially galls me when banks and insurance companies tell surveyors they “must” be in a certain organization or “must” have a membership number.  The truth be known is marine surveyors don’t have to belong to anything.  Does joining an organization smooth the way?  Certainly, but stop telling people your organization is the “only” one.  It goes against all democratic business principles.  What do you think?
